Macs with Windows Networking

Connecting a Mac to Windows network can be extremely frustrating especially if the Mac has a corrupted user file and is trying to use WPA2 encryption. I wish I would have read TechRepublic's article "10 things you should know about connecting Macintosh OS X systems to Windows networks" before going down that rabbit hole.

"Thanks to improvements within Apple's OS X operating system, admins face fewer headaches when they need to connect Macs to Windows networks."

Happy Halloween!

"It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark
Under the moonlight you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes
You're paralyzed
'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
And no one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike"

Windows Media Player 11 vs. Winamp 5.31

Windows Media Player (WMP) and Winamp have both been around for awhile. I have used both in the past with success. I think I switch between the two for a season of change more than anything else. Which one do you use and why? Unfortunately I have been utilizing iTunes, so that just adds another spoon in the mix.

I am a person who likes pictures. Pictures are worth a thousand words. It is probably the best part of my blog because without the pics I would have basically a rhetorical question with a rhetorical statement. ;-) TenByTen brings hourly news to us with pictures that represent it.

"Every hour, 10x10 scans the RSS feeds of several leading international news sources, and performs an elaborate process of weighted linguistic analysis on the text contained in their top news stories. After this process, conclusions are automatically drawn about the hour's most important words. The top 100 words are chosen, along with 100 corresponding images, culled from the source news stories. At the end of each day, month, and year, 10x10 looks back through its archives to conclude the top 100 words for the given time period. In this way, a constantly evolving record of our world is formed, based on prominent world events, without any human input."

Wow. Ok. So it hasn’t been Blogger’s weekend. Blogger was down for a little over three hours this evening, due to the near-simultaneous failure of a critical component and its backup. This outage also impacted the loading of many Blog*Spot blogs, which rely on Blogger for a CSS file.

We apologize profusely for this outage. Blogger should be working as normal now. The new version of Blogger in beta was not affected.

We’ve been having a bit of slowness this morning. Technicians are on the scene. Update, 11:15: Most of the problems are resolved. Thanks for sticking with us through the maintenance. Blogger will be running a bit slower than normal for a short time (possibly for the rest of today) as we have a handful of servers out of commission. If you see any error pages, please just wait a sec and try again.

Wednesday, October 18, 2006
Apologies to everyone affected by tonight's Blogger slowness. And super apologies that said slowness prevented us from updating this page in a timely manner.

Monday, October 16, 2006
Some users are experiencing problems with uploaded photos (truncation or not showing at all). We are investigating this problem. If you experience any of these issues please report the blog and image urls to Blogger Support.Update 9 PM (PST): This problem has been resolved.
